2016 Annual School Supply Drive

August 30, 2016

Way to go New York Office!

This year Murphy & McGonigle's New York Office collected supplies for the Coalition for the Homeless’ Project: Back to School program.  Over the past year more than 83,000 NYC school kids experienced homelessness at some point.  Many of these children lack even the most basic school supplies and will start the school year feeling unprepared as well as terrified of being teased as a “shelter kid.”  This program makes sure that these kids get a new backpack filled with the school supplies needed for their grade level just like everyone else on the first day of school.  The NYC Office collected the following items:

  • 15 backpacks
  • 500 pencils
  • 30 hard pencil cases
  • 11 soft pencil cases
  • 1,328 crayons
  • 428 markers
  • 17 bottles of Elmer’s glue
  • 46 glue sticks
  • 46 composition books
  • 228 pink erasers
  • 50 safety scissors
  • 72 pencil sharpeners
  • 284 colored pencils
  • 90 rulers
  • 21 binders
  • 66 pocket folders
  • 28 packs of ruled binder-filler paper
  • 10 scientific calculators
  • 9 spiral notebooks
  • 5 packs of index cards
  • 40 pens

A big THANK YOU to all of our donors.  You guys did a great job for a great cause!

Darren and Heather delivered the supplies to the Coalition this afternoon.  They were hard at work filling backpacks in time for the first day of school next week and were very happy to accept our contribution.
